Plantar Wart

Plantar warts are growths that commonly appear on weight-bearing areas of the feet, particularly the heels. These warts result from infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the body through breaks in the skin, such as cuts on the soles of the feet.

Individuals more susceptible to plantar warts include children, teens, those with compromised immune systems, individuals with a history of plantar warts, and those who frequently walk barefoot in environments hosting the wart-causing virus.

If you suspect the presence of plantar warts, you may experience symptoms such as pain or tenderness while walking, lesions disrupting the skin ridges on the foot, small fleshy growths on the sole, or calluses where warts have developed inward over specific skin areas.

HPV, responsible for plantar warts, is a common virus with over 100 known types. However, only a few of them lead to warts on the feet.

If diagnosed with plantar warts, your footcare professional may employ various treatment methods based on your specific case. These can include medications like salicylic acid to induce skin peeling, freezing medicines (cryotherapy), surgical procedures, laser treatments, or vaccines.

If you, your child, or someone you know is dealing with plantar warts, assistance is available. Call us at 562-399-5252, and we can provide the necessary support and guidance to address this condition effectively.
